Christmas Packaging!

Christmas has snuck up on me!   I have finally got the my soap packaged and ready for gift giving!  I made over a hundred bars this year to give away.  I took trays of it to work and you would be amazed at how people go crazy over a free bar of "fancy" soap!  The kids have made gift bags for each of their teachers and we have got a bag or two ready for neighbors and friendsthat we see over the Holidays.  The soaps have did pretty well at the Carousel Horse the past few weeks, which is good since that is how I am funding the "great soap giveaways"!  I love this hobby and I hope everyone enjoys their soaps this year!

I started working on my soaps for the fall and winter.  Be on the look out for new flavors such as Victorian Christmas, Milk and Honey with Oatmeal made with goat milk, Orange Spice Goat Milk, Pink Sands goat milk, Blackberry Sage Tea, and Basil Sage and Mint.  After 6-8 weeks of drying, these will be ready for Carousel Horse in Locust! 

Summer is Here!

All of my summer "flavors" are out and ready!  Come by the Carousel Horse and pick you up a bar!  These summer flavors are wonderful to help keep that tanned summer skin soft!  I am going to start working on my fall stuff soon!

My name is Lisa...and I am a soap hoarder!   After last weekend I came home and looked at what I had leftover and I was sad.  Then after making a portable display of soaps to put into the Carousel Horse Antique store in Locust I was even sadder.  All of my stacks of beautiful soaps had dwindled to a pitiful sight!  I instantly went into a crisis mode. What would I make next, do I have the right oils, could I make a summer "line" of soaps before summer, would I be able to continue to sell different ones?  All of these questions were whirling through my head.  I don't know what I thought would happen to the dozens of bars that I had once had, I guess I thought I would have them to keep and look at!  I am happy and grateful to have sold the soaps at the Green Goats festival, but I was in great need of replenishing my stock.  Something about rows and rows of creamy luscious goody bars makes me feel like I am on top of the world!  In my previous life (when I worked outside the home full time) I never had a personal hobby.  All my time and energy was put into getting meals made, kids to ball practices, grocery shopping, and chores around the house and farm.  Now that I no longer work a full time job,  I have time and patience to do something I enjoy.  I went online and ordered a huge supply of fragrances and oils to get a summer line started and then I ordered some samples for autumn and Christmas soaps.  I ordered everything Monday and thought it may come by early next week.  To my surprise it was delivered early Thursday and I was so giddy I didn't know where to start.  I opened the box, paced back and forth, and had an extreme case of choice congestion!  I finally calmed myself down enough to get a recipe together and start making more soap!  So with all that said, I have made over 20 pounds of soaps in 5 different flavors over the last 6 days!  Now comes the hard part...we have to wait 4-6 weeks before the soaps can be packaged and sold.  They have to dry out and complete their saponification process.  That leaves me time to design and implement a package for each one of these new little nuggets of sunshine!Here is my expected plan to be available at the beginning of June:

GGG Festival!

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped me get my soap business up and running today!  Our family has enjoyed using our soaps for over a year now and I am glad to be able to share with others.  We had a good day since the rain held off until after the fesival was over.  Now I need to make decisions about how to economically deliver refills and new orders to people.  I can arrange some pickup locations around the Concord and Charlotte area, but I would like to have feedback concerning where would be convenient.  If anyone has ideas please let me know.  Feel free to comment on this blog post or email me at burnetteL3@aol.com I would also love to have any suggestions or ideas you would like to see. 

 

Green Goats and Gardens

Please come see us at our first public market!  We will be at the Green Goats and Garden Festival on April 27 from 11am-3pm.  It is located in the University Research Park in Charlotte NC. You can get more information at www.greengoatsandgardens.org/fun.html  We will have homemade soaps and laundry detergents for sale.  We will also have some of the goats from Uphill Both Ways Farm there for petting and photo opportunities!  Bring the kids out for lessons on the new Go Green Movement and other fun activities.
